How the South East Wales Rivers Trust is Funded

One of the strengths of River Trusts is that they can support the work of statutory agencies, councils, and communities because they are non-aligned and have no regulatory functions. As a result, they blend local community initiatives with the professional context provided by their Trustees and statutory partners. The South East Wales Rivers Trust already has a formal working accord with the Environment Agency, and similar accords with the Countryside Council for Wales and the Forestry Commission are under discussion.

SEWRT will work with the Environment Agency to bid for projects through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) and the European Social Fund (ESF).
