Grangemore Park
Apart from working on environmental projects the South East Wales RiversTrust was formed with the intention of working in partnership with communities as well.
In 2010 we were approached to help Cardiff Council with a project to improve access and create a new area for recreation at Grangemore Park on the River Ely. The project included the extension of a walkway along the river Ely together with a picnic area and some fishing platforms suitable for all abilities.
We had some funding from Environment Agency Wales that had been allocated for another project but because certain criteria could not be met had not been used. The Agency decided that this new project was in keeping with the use the money had been allocated for and agreed we could liaise with the other partners, Cardiff Council, to progress the scheme.

Above are two pictureds of the main Ely walk; left, looking towards Cardiff Bay and, right, looking up the river Ely.
The picnic area that was created.

Some of the fishing platforms.
The Trust is pleased it was able to be involved in this project.
